Wayne E. Burge, 83, passed away peacefully in his bed Sunday, November 9, 2008, just four days prior to his 84th birthday, at Lenawee Medical Care Facility, Adrian, Mich. where he resided since March, 2008.
He was born November 13, 1924, in Alpha, Mich., son of the late Raymond and Katherine (Frederickson) Burge.
Wayne was a decorated U.S. Army veteran of World War II and made his career as a machinist at Kent Moore in Jackson, Mich. He retired to Crystal Falls and loved spending time at his hunting and fishing camp on Light Lake.
Survivors include four children, Lynn (Bob) Sweezey, Eustis, Fla., Barry (Karen) Burge, Jackson, Mich., Connie (Mark) Mann, Tecumseh, Mich., Gregg Burge; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Raymond Burge, Crystal Falls, and one sister, Fern McGeath, Petoskey, Mich. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Phyllis; and two brothers, Alvin and Lester Burge.

Memorial service 1:30 p.m., Saturday, August 1, 2009, at Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls, with military honors accorded by the East Side Veterans Council.
