Crystal Falls- Wayne E. Autio, 92, of Crystal Falls, Mich., passed away Monday, January 25, 2021 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls, Mich. He was born March 8, 1928, in Crystal Falls, son of the late Towner and Esther (Johnson) Autio. Wayne was a longtime resident of Crystal Falls and a graduate of Crystal Falls High school. He received his teaching degree from Northern Michigan University and further taught 5th and 6th grade at Gwinn public schools. Wayne proudly served in the United States Army during the Korea Conflict. He enjoyed extensive traveling in both the United States and Canada, fishing, crafting, taking and developing photo's, wood carving, and rock collecting where he would make jewelry for friends and family. Survivors include nieces and nephews, Gene (Sue) Autio, Brian (Pam) Autio, Karen Lechert, Paul (Carol) Foucault, John Foucault, Roy Foucault, Donna (Bob) VanSickle, Greg (Sherri) Garavet, James Garavet. In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his brother, Ray (Betty) Autio; two sisters, Nancy (Reuben) Hansen and Lois Garavet; and by a nephew, Jimmer Garavet. In accordance with Wayne's wishes, private family services will be held. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls, in the spring.
