Obituary

Wally Romagnoli, age 80, of Kingsford, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2005 at Florence Villa Nursing Home. He was born on July 20, 1924 in Iron Mountain son of the late Bruno and Helen Romagnoli. He attended Iron Mountain High School & graduated in 1942. Wally served in the United States Navy as a fire fighter from 6/15/43 until his honorary discharge on 2/27/46. He was commended for his courage & heroic assistance in extinguishing a destructive & dangerous fire at West Loch in Pearl Harbor on May 21, 1944. He married Betty (Picoldi) on May 10, 1948, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Wakefield, Michigan. He worked for the Dickinson County Road Commission for 18 years before retiring on August 1, 1987. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Iron Mountain and the Pine Grove Country Club. He was a loving & dedicated husband, father, & grandfather. He was a loyal packer fan & enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, & spending time with his family & friends. Survivors include his wife, Betty, a son Guy (Julie) Romagnoli, a daughter Gail (David) Machus, & his grandchildren Mark, Gina & Brian. As a youth, he lost his parents, Bruno & Helen Romagnoli & was lovingly raised & cared for by Tulio & Ada Romagnoli. Other survivors are his brother Henry Romagnoli & sister Norma (Nick) Simone, brother-in-law Charles Picoldi, sister-in-law Margaret Picoldi, & several nieces & nephews. Visitation will be Thursday, July 7, 2005, from 11-1pm at Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Funeral services will be at 1 PM, Thursday, at Jacobs Funeral Home with Msgr. James Kaczmarek officiating. Burial will be in Cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
