Virginia LaVerne Kelly, 83, of Iron Mountain, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls. She was born June 20, 1926, in Detroit, Mich., daughter of the late Clifford and Edna (Rinke) Knapp. Virginia married Edward Garrison on August 17, 1946. He preceded her in death on August 21, 1978. Virginia worked in Detroit as a manager of apartments for many years before moving to Iron Mountain in 1983. After living in Iron Mountain for many years, she moved to the Florence Villa Nursing Home, Florence, Wis. and most recently the Iron County Medical Care Facility. She enjoyed reading, playing music, and especially spending time with her family. Virginia was a member of the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Florence. Survivors include one son, Charles (Linda) Garrison, Roseville, Mich.; one daughter, Bonnie Garrison, Roseville; one brother, Ralph (Lois) Wright, Eatonville, Wash.; four grandchildren, Paul Garrison, Jennifer (Stacy) Rosati, Kerrie (Kirk) Williamson, Kirk Garrison; and five great-grandchildren. Virginia was preceded in death by one son, Robert Garrison; and one daughter, Carol Garrison.
