Vernon R. Nurenberg, II, 62, of Alpha, Mich., passed away Friday, May 6, 2011, at his home.
Vern was born on July 25, 1948, in Sandusky, Mich., son of the late Vernon and Martha (Sorenson) Nurenberg. He served his country with honor and distinction in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed a fulfilling career in the Michigan Department of Natural Resources as a Fisheries Biologist for over thirty years. Vern retired from the DNR in 2004, and enjoyed life in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
He was known for his sense of humor, quick wit, following the Detroit Tigers and his love for the great outdoors, including hunting, fishing and riding his four-wheeler. He was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by his two children, family and friends.
Vern is survived by his son, Brock (Amy) Nurenberg, Grosse Ile, Mich; his daughter, Elizabeth Nurenberg, Los Angeles, Calif.; brother Edgar (Sharon) Nurenberg, Port Sanilac, Mich.; and brother, Paul Nurenberg, Clearwater, Mich.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 11, 2011, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls. Funeral services will be Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Michael Laakko will officiate.
