Florence: Vern L. Jacobsen age 86, of Florence, Wisconsin died Friday November 7, 2003 at Dickinson County Hospital in Iron Mountain. Vern was born on June 22, 1917 in Florence, Wisconsin son of the late Holger and Alice (Johnson) Jacobsen. Vern grew up in Florence, and later moved to Kingsford were he attended school and graduated from Kingsford High School in 1937. Vern married Sophie Kososki on May 27, 1939 in Bound Brook, New Jersey. They resided in New Jersey and Vern worked for American Cyanmid for 40yrs. While at American Cyanmid he worked in production and research retiring in June of 1979, when he along with his wife Sophie moved to Florence. Vern was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Florence, the Hiram D. Fisher Masonic Lodge #222 of Florence, the Ahmed Temple and Interstate Shrine Club. Vern is survived by, His wife of 64 years Sophie. One son Theodore (Nancy) Jacobsen of Orangeville, Pennsylvania. Two grandchildren, Debra (Jeremy) and Jeffery. One great granddaughter Patience Jacobsen. He was preceded by, one brother Paul Jacobsen and one sister Arletta Andrus. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7PM at the Jacobs-Lundholm Funeral Home in Florence, Wisconsin. The Hiram D. Fisher Masonic lodge will conduct a Masonic Memorial Service Monday 6:45PM at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be Tuesday 10AM at the Jacobs-Lundholm Funeral Home. Pastor Doug Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
