Obituary

Florence-Van R. Stanley, age 60, of Florence, Wis., passed away Monday, May 21, 2018, as a result of a tragic accident at his home.

He was born October 9, 1957, in Milwaukee, Wis., son of the late Roger and Lois (Vandeveer-Feder) Stanley. Van was a graduate of Waverly Shell Rock High School in Waverly, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Diane LaBelle on April 10, 1999 in Las Vegas. Van worked at Bay Shipyard in Sturgeon Bay, Wis. for 2 years, and at Megtec in De Pere, Wis. for 34 years as a global service manager and project manager. He was thrilled to retire to Keyes Lake on May 9, 2015, at the age of 57.

Van was a dedicated family man, cherishing the time he spent with his kids and grandchildren, family and friends. An avid hunter, he also loved to water and snow ski, scuba dive, hike, snowshoe, ride snowmobiles and atv's, mountain bike and golf. He enjoyed grooming for the Blue Ox Trail Riders and served on the Board of Directors of the Keyes Lake Association. Van had an adventuresome soul and he lived life to the fullest. "Can't" was not a word in Van's vocabulary. He traveled extensively in the United States and abroad, always bringing back great stories. Van brought fun and joy to many gatherings and he loved the lake and the home he built there with Diane.

Van will be sadly missed by his loving family and many friends.
