Thomas B. Trottier, 60, of Niagara, Wis., passed away Monday, July 20, 2009, at his home after a six month battle with cancer. He was born June 12, 1949, in Norway, Mich., son of the late Bernard and Stephanie (Hohol) Trottier. Tom grew up in Niagara and graduated from Niagara High School, Class of 1968. Following graduation, he served in the United States Army for two years. Tom married the former Rhonda Quick on November 10, 1973, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Niagara. He worked at the Niagara Paper Mill for 37 years and retired from Stora Enso in 2005. Tom also served as a volunteer firefighter for the Niagara Fire Department for 21 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Tom enjoyed spending time at camp with his best friend, Ed Sarder. He liked to play smear at the Iron Mountain Senior Center and also played in many tournaments. Tom helped his neighbors whenever possible and always had a soft spot for little kids. Tom is survived by his wife, Rhonda; two daughters, Toni Trottier, Port St. Lucie, Fla., Sherry (Jerry) Lee, Neenah, Wis.; three step-grandchildren, Jerry III, Toni, and Bryan Lee; one brother, Jerry Trottier, Aurora, Wis.; two sisters, Sandy (Dan) Edick, Niagara, Donna (Rick) Kalkofen, Goodman, Wis.; four sisters-in-law, Barb (Ray) Jutila, Ishpeming, Mich., Nola Rautio, Elkhorn, Wis., Sheila (Steve) Wood, Iron Mountain, Cindy (Dave) Fisher, Kingsford; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Nichole Lynn; one brother, Timothy; father and mother-in-law, Jim and Dolores Quick. Pallbearers will be Jerry Lee, Dan Edick, Rick Kalkofen, Steve Wood, Dave Fisher, and Ed Sarder. Visitation will be Thursday, July 23, 2009, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, 11:00 a.m. at the church. Rev. Matt Settle will officiate. American Legion Cretton-Tutas Post No. 136, Niagara, will accord graveside military honors. Burial will be in Niagara Cemetery.
