Thomas Phillips
CRYSTAL FALLS — Thomas F. Phillips, 74, of 1491 U.S. 2, Crystal Falls Township, died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002, at his home.
Thomas was born March 9, 1928, in Crystal Falls, the son of the late Jess and Rose (Robichaud) Phillips. He was raised in Crystal Falls, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He, along with his wife Eleanor, lived in Illinois for many years.
Thomas was a member of the Teamsters Union and worked for Gateway Trucking in Illinois. They later moved back to Crystal Falls. Eleanor preceded her husband, Thomas in 1995.
He was a very active member of the Tufts-Rondin Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 2891. He was always present for the pass and revue and the military services, which were offered by the local veterans.
He is survived by two sons, Thomas Lee (Annetta) Phillips of Crystal Falls and Terry Jess Phillips of Iron River; a stepson, Carl Anderson; two brothers, Ken (Beatrice) Phillips and Jack (Barbara) Phillips, both of Minnesota; three sisters, Ruth Wnuk of Escanaba and Patsy Phillips of Gladstone and Peggy(Ken) of lower Michigan; a grandson, Kyle Phillips; and a step-grandson, Ken Engles.
He was also preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Elaine Engles and five brothers, Bob, Jim, Ray, Donald and Edward.
Visitation will be Friday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home in Crystal Falls. The Eastside Veterans Council will offer a pass and revue Friday at 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Dr. John Linna will officiate.
Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Crystal Falls.
The family is being served by the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home in Crystal Falls.
