Obituary

Thomas A. Lueneburg, 65, passed away peacefully in his sleep on his birthday, April 17, 2026.

Tom was born on April 17, 1961, in Escanaba and grew up in Iron Mountain, Michigan, where he graduated with the Class of 1979. He went on to attend Gogebic Community College, earning his degree in Auto Body in 1982.

A dedicated and hardworking man, Tom spent much of his life in the construction industry, finishing his career with Superior Steel. He took pride in his work and was known for his strong work ethic and willingness to lend a hand whenever it was needed.

Above all else, Tom was a family man. He had a deep and unconditional love for his two daughters, often lovingly referring to them as “the girls,” and found immense joy in being a grandfather to his three grandchildren. His family was his greatest pride and the center of his world.

Tom will be remembered as someone who would do anything for anyone. He had a kind heart, a generous spirit, and a way of making people feel like they mattered. Known by many as an all-around great guy, he was also a best friend to many and left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

In his free time, Tom enjoyed the simple things in life—puttering around the yard, spending time in his garage, appreciating wildlife, and camping. He found peace and happiness in these quiet moments.

Tom’s legacy of love, kindness, and friendship will live on through his family and all those fortunate enough to have known him.

He is survived by his daughters, Alisha (Randy) Willis, and Torina (Ryan) Hendershott; mother, Idelle Winkler; brother, David Lueneburg; sisters, Carla (Tim) Tippett, Ellen Willingham, Christine (Jim) Anderson, and Bonnie (Tommy) Hacker; and grandchildren, Tanner Willis, Raelynn Hendershott, Layla Hendershott; many nieces, and nephews; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ervin Winkler; and siblings, Keith Lueneburg, Richard Lueneburg, Tamara Sina, Dale Lueneburg and special family pet Scruffy.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain, MI. A Celebration of Tom’s Life will follow at 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home with Pastor Kevin Sullivan officiating.
