Tom Karle, 73, of Florence died Sunday, June 23, 2013, at the Dickinson County Hospital.
Tom was born January 13, 1940, in Iron River to August and Jean Karle. He was a 1957 graduate of Florence High School. Tom married Karen Senty on June 13, 1995.
Tom was a jack-of-all-trades. He enjoyed fixing any mechanical or electrical problem that his friends from the community would bring him. Tom loved to visit with the people who brought him things to fix and had the unique ability to give everyone a nickname, which his own was Tomcat. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Florence.
Tom was also a very avid logger, welder, and a farmer. His passions included any type of old tool, old radios, and collecting antiques.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Karle, Florence; his brother, James (Barbara) Karle of Kingsford, Mich.; his children: Susan Karle, Robert (Helga) Karle, Michael (Tiffany) Karle, Lisa (Roger) Peene, Christopher (Laura) Karle, and Lori (Jesse) Brown, Travis Soppa, Melissa (Shannon) Kampmeier; his grandchildren: John Thomas Karle, Matthew Karle, Joseph Karle, Agustus Karle, Dylan Brown, Samantha Peene, Colby Peene, Alexander Crivitz, Chelsie Soppa, Maggie Soppa, and Ella Kampmeier.
Tom was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Karle.
Visitation will be Friday, June 28, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Florence. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated, Friday, 11:00 a.m. at the church. Rev. Raymond Valerio will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Commonwealth, Wis.
