Therese Porta of Sun City, Ariz., died Friday, September 16, 2011, on her 61st wedding anniversary in Woodbury, Minn.
She was born August 3, 1928, in Racine, Wis.
Therese lived most of her life in Iron Mountain and graduated from Iron Mountain High School. In 1989, she moved to Arizona where she and Charlie had a great retirement together. Therese enjoyed lapidary, silver craft, travel, church activities, playing cards with friends and spending time with her family. She volunteered her time at Boswell Hospital and St. Elizabeth Seton Society. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Church.
Therese is survived by her husband, Charles Porta, her daughter, Melissa Porta, and son-in-law, Greg McAllister, one brother, Lincoln, one nephew,and one great-nephew. She spent the last 4 months of her life with her family in Minnesota. Therese was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Marian Cominsky.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 18, 2011, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. A parish rosary will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Prayers will be recited 9:30 a.m., Monday, September 19, 2011, at the funeral home with the Funeral Mass being celebrated 10:00 a.m., at St. Mary & St. Joseph Catholic Church, Iron Mountain. Rev. Augustine Jacob will celebrate the mass. Burial will be in Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain.
