Therese Rose Frederick, 87, of Iron Mountain, Mich., embraced the loving arms of Our Lord Jesus Christ on November 21, 2014.
She was born October 13, 1927, in Menasha, Wis., daughter of the late Ralph and Dorothy (Nichols) Smith.
Therese's family moved to Florence, Wis. in 1937, where she attended the Florence School
District. In 1948, she graduated with honors from Iron Mountain High School and in 1949, she married Clarence Frederick of Eagle River, Wis. Together they owned and operated a mink farm, and raised their two sons. Therese went on to graduate with high honors from Minneapolis Medical University of Minnesota, where she studied cancer research. She later moved to Iron Mountain and pursued her career as the Assistant to the Director of Laboratory Services at DCHS until her retirement.
She enjoyed designing and making silver jewelry and belonged to a pool league and bowling league. Most of all, Therese loved and was so proud of her sons and grandchildren's accomplishments.
In addition to her parents and husband Clarence, she was preceded in death by one son, Thomas Nicholas Frederick, Lieutenant Commander U.S. Navy; two brothers, Wayne Smith and Truman Smith and two sisters, Dorothy (Gordon) Brazil and Veronica (Camille) Frigo.
Therese is survived by one son, Clarence (Leslie Ann) Frederick, Land O' Lakes, Wis; two brothers, Michael Smith, Grand Rapids, Mich. and Patrick Smith, Spread Eagle, Wis., four sisters, Cindy (Randy) Pilon, Niagara, Wis., Mary (George) Ashe, Baltimore, MD, LaDonna Jane, Sault Sainte Marie, Mich. and Helen Dunkes of Aurora, Wis., three grandchildren, Eric Frederick, Lee Frederick and Clare Frederick and several special nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held, Wednesday, November 26, 2014, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Florence. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. at the church. Rev. Fr. Matt Settle will officiate. A luncheon will follow at noon at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Florence, in the spring.
Pallbearers will be Randy Pilon, Nathan Pilon, George Ashe, Jordon Bovee, Patrick Smith and Jerry Giancola. Honorary Pallbearer's will be Eric Frederick's, Lee Frederick and Clare Frederick.
The family has chosen the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain to honor Therese's Legacy of Life.
