Stewart M. Gunville, 90, of Niagara, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2012, at Maryhill Manor, Niagara. He recently celebrated his 90th birthday.
He was born April 17, 1922, in Escanaba, Mich., son of the late Charles and Flora (Paupore) Gunville. Stewart graduated from Niagara High School and was a lifelong resident of Niagara. He served in the United States Army from 1942 until being honorably discharged in 1945.
Stewart married Elayne Brault on February 15, 1947, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Niagara. He worked for Kimberly Clark Paper Corp. as a machinist for many years and retired from there.
He enjoyed fly fishing, hunting, going to camp, and was an avid Green Bay Packers Fan. Stewart was an active member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the American Legion Cretton-Tutas Post No. 136 of Niagara.
Stewart has rejoined the love of his life, Elayne. He will be dearly missed by his family and numerous friends. "… and the easy ones twice."

Stewart is survived by two sons, Thomas (Tana) Gunville, Tex., Charlie (Patty) Gunville, Niagara; three daughters, Suellen (Steve) Inglese, Iron Mountain, Charlene (Joe Gille) Gunville, Niagara, Betty (Jim Nocerini) Gunville, Spread Eagle, Wis.; one sister, Janet (Glenn) Sundquist, Florence; ten grandchildren, Cindy (Devon) Davis, Pam (Jason) Prinz, Tia (Aaron) Sawyer, Tera (Justin) Stallard, Jeffrey (Lisa) May, Christopher (Molly) May, Bradley (Kristi) Gunville, Kristin Smith, TJ Smith, Brittany Gunville; eleven great-grandchildren, numerous special nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents and wife, Stewart was preceded in death by one daughter, Sandi (Gunville) May.
The visitation will be Saturday, May 12, 2012, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Niagara. The Memorial Mass will be celebrated 12:30 p.m., Saturday at the church. Fr. Ray Valerio will officiate. Burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 14, at Niagara Cemetery, Niagara. Fr. Matt Settle will officiate. The American Legion Cretton-Tutas Post No. 136 will accord military honors at graveside.
A memorial will be established in Stewart's memory.
