Obituary

Stanley Larry Majewski, 84, of Florence, Wis., passed away Sunday, February 22, 2009, at the Oscar G. Johnson Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Iron Mountain. He was born December 18, 1924, in Goodman, Wisconsin, son of the late Joseph and Francise (Maciweski) Majewski. Stanley attended schools in Armstrong Creek, Fence, and Goodman. He joined the United States Navy on August 23, 1942, at the age of 17. While in the US Navy, he served in the European Middle East, the Asiatic Pacific, and the Phillippine Liberation. Stanley was honorably discharged as a Machinist Mate 2nd Class on January 16, 1946. He spent the next two summers working on ships on the Great Lakes. Stanley married Vivian Jendrzejak in Milwaukee, Wis. on January 9, 1954. They had three sons; Johnnie Joe, Michael Stanley, and Thomas David. They resided in South Milwaukee and divorced in 1971. He was a Scout Master with a Boy Scout Troop in South Milwaukee. Stanley was an avid hunter, fisherman, and trapper and was known by family and friends as "Trapper." He was a member of the NRA, The Polish American Legion of South Milwaukee, VFW Post No. 3635, of Florence, and Christ United Methodist Church, Crystal Falls, Mich. Stanley worked at Ladish Drop Forge in Cudahy, Wis. for 40 years and retired in 1988. He married Audrey Williams on May 21, 1988, in Milwaukee. They moved to Florence in October, 1989. He is survived by his wife, Audrey, Florence; two sons, Michael Stanley Majewski, South Milwaukee, Thomas David (Karen) Majewski, Stoughton, Wis.; two step-sons, David Earl (Linda) Patch, Georgetown, Tex., Douglas Bruce Patch, Brookfield, Wis.; one step-daughter, Deborah Ann (Michael) Flanagan, Mauldin, S.C.; eight grandchildren, Danielle, Donette, and Dean Patch, Nicholas and Megan Flanagan, Kyle and Craig Patch; four sisters, Helen Christnovich, Franklin, Wis., Pauline (Leo) Wolfson, Olympic Field, Ill., Clara Wozniak, Armstrong Creek, Wis., Ann (Charles) Fenton, Los Angeles, Calif.; three brothers, Chester (Mamie) Majewski, Frank Majewski, Tony (Carol) Majewski, all of Armstrong Creek, Wis.; numerous nieces and nephews. Stanley was preceded in death by one son, Johnnie Joe; one sister, Mary; two brothers, John and Louis. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 25, 2009, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Jacobs-Lundholm Funeral Home, Florence. VFW Post No. 3635 of Florence will accord military honors Wednesday, 6:45pm at the funeral home. Additional visitation will be Thursday, February 26, 2009, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, at Christ United Methodist Church, Crystal Falls. The funeral service will be Thursday, 11:00 am at the church. Rev. Stephen Rhoades will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Cudahy, Wis.
