Sophie F. Huska, age 87, of Crystal Falls, died Monday afternoon, August 29, 2005 at the Iron County Community Hospital, Iron River. She was born April 4, 1918 in Crystal Falls, daughter of the late John and Angeline (Micholek) Bucek, Sr. On July 21, 1956 she married Frank Huska, Sr. in Crystal Falls. He preceded her in death on January 24, 1976. Sophie was a lifelong resident of Crystal Falls and worked as head cook at the Crystal Falls Community Hospital for many years. She was an active member of Guardian Angels Catholic Church and the Guardian Angels Guild. Survivors include her son, Frank J. Huska, Neenah, Wis.; two brothers, Tom (Joyce) Bucek, Sr., Crystal Falls, John Bucek, Jr., Crystal Falls; two sisters, Marjorie Skibo, Crystal Falls, Mary Minick, Hillside, Ill.; one sister-in-law, Stephanie Bucek, Berkeley, Ill., and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Huska, Sr., one brother Joe Bucek, three sisters, Helen Minick, Angeline Hollich, Beatrice Bjork, and infant siblings Janice and Michael Bucek. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 2, 2005 at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Crystal Falls. Rev. Dino Silvestrini will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls. Visitation will be Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of services at the church.
