Iron Mountain- Sindy Sue Oakes, 53, of Iron Mountain, Mich., passed away Saturday, October 30, 2021, at Marquette UP Health System, Marquette, Mich. She was born January 4, 1968, in Norway, Mich., daughter of Donald and Janice (Bastian) Cowling. Sindy grew up and attended school in Norway. She married Allen Oakes on June 6, 1986. Sindy worked as a cashier for Walmart. Survivors include her loving husband, Allen Oakes, Iron Mountain, Mich.; two sons, James Oakes and Jeremy (Catie) Oakes; one grandson, Aiden Oakes; her mother, Janice Cowling; five brothers, Donald (Melissa) Cowling Jr., Johnny (Hester) Cowling, Ronnie Cowling, Danny Cowling and Chuck (Bonnie) Cowling; four sisters, Tammy (Pete) Wonch, Joanny (Dave) Grenfell, Bonnie (Richard) Norman, and Kristal (Butch) Kusmitch; many nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 4, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain, Mich. The funeral service will be celebrated Thursday, 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
