Silvio A. Parochelli, 90, Crystal Falls, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2009, at Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls. He was born July 11, 1918, in Crystal Falls, son of the late Julius and Josephine (Copin) Parochelli. Silvio was a lifelong resident of Crystal Falls. He married the former Mayme Cousineau on August 16, 1940, in Chicago, Ill. She preceded him in death on March 17, 1994. Silvio attended Crystal Falls schools and served in the US Navy in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He worked as an electrician at the Book Mine in Alpha and helped work for miner's rights with the CIO. In 1959, Silvio was hired as a patrolman for the Crystal Falls Police Department, he remained with the city until his retirement in 1980. Silvio was also a member of the Crystal Falls Volunteer Fire Department from 1970 to 1987. . He was active in many service organizations including the VFW, American Legion, Knights of Columbus and Lions Club, where he served a term as King Lion. Silvio loved to hunt, trap, fish, and was an avid gardener who shared his crops with many friends. Silvio is survived by one son, Silvio Parochelli, Jr.; two daughters, Jean (Joseph) Flake, Sandra Parochelli; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Julius (LaRayne) Parochelli; and one sister, Marie Connolly. The Eastside Veterans Council will conduct a Pass-In-Review ceremony Monday 10:45 am at the church. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 am Monday at the church. Rev. Daniel Moll will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls.
