Iron Mountain: Sidney J. Erickson, age 81, of Iron Mountain, passed away Monday, November 28, 2005, at Marquette General Hospital in Marquette, Michigan. He was born in Homestead, Wisconsin, March 3, 1924, the son of John and Margaret (Conrad) Erickson. On October 3, 1946, he married Leola (Lee) LaMourie in Kingsford. She survives. Sidney served in the United States Army. He and Leola resided in Kingsford for a couple years before moving to Lansing. He was employed as a draftsman for the State of Michigan Highway Department for over thirty years. After retirement they moved to Gooseneck Lake near Manistique, and in 2004, they moved back to Kingsford. Sidney was a member of St. Mary Queen of Peace Church, the Iron Mountain D.A.V., and a volunteer for the Veterans Administration Hospital in Iron Mountain. Survivors include his wife Lee, seven sons, Michael (Julie) Erickson, Tucson, Ariz., Paul (Julia) Erickson, Alaska, James (Mary) Erickson, East Lansing, Mich., John Erickson, San Francisco, Calif., Chuck Erickson, Colorado Springs, Colo., Bob (Sue) Erickson, Lansing, Mich., and Mark (Denise) Erickson, Lansing, Mich.; two daughters, Tina (Douglas) Wood, Charlotte, Mich., and Mimi (Bill) Paulin , Australia; one brother Willie (Maija) Erickson, Breitung Township; two sisters Margaret (Bertil) Swanson, Iron Mountain and Martha Ramponi, Hernando, Fla.; twenty-one grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Sidney was preceded in death by two brothers Conrad and Walter Erickson. Visitation will be Thursday, December 1, 2005, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Prayers will be recited at 5:15p.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home with Fr. Michael Woempner Visitation will also be Saturday, December 3, 2005, 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at St. Theresa Church in Lansing. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, 10:00a.m.at the Church.
