Shirley Vera Foster, age 60, of Crystal Falls, died Monday, January 29, 2007, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born May 6, 1946, in Hancock, daughter of the late Ardell and Vera (Kauralla) Snell. She married Brian Foster, who teaches Art at West Iron County Schools. Shirley was a nurse's aid and worked at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Iron River Care, Our Lady of Mercy in Hubbell and Cypress Manor in Hancock. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, Brian, gardening and most especially spending time with her grandchildren Survivors include her husband, Brian Foster, Crystal Falls; three daughters, Carri Larsen, Baltic, Tracey Juntunen, Deena (Jason) Johnson, all of Caspian; one son, David Scott Pyykkonen, Holland, Mich.; one sister, Kristine (John) Ruosti, Chassell; six brothers, David Snell, Iron Mountain, Daniel (Christine) Snell, Painsdale, Dennis Snell, Baraga, Dale (Shelly) Snell, Chassell, Duane (Gina) Snell, Baltic; nine grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be 3:00 p.m. (CST), Saturday, February 10, 2007, at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls. Rev. Earl Kauralla will officiate. Burial will be in the Elo, Michigan Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. Saturday until the time of services at the funeral home.
