Obituary

Pembine: Sherril Edward Bilky Sr. age 63, of Pembine, Wisconsin passed away Saturday, April 1, 2006, at the Veterans Hospital in Iron Mountain, Michigan. Ed was born on April 6, 1942, in Romulus, Michigan son of the late Sherril F. and Beatrice (Goupil) Bilky. Ed married Joyce Strausser and she preceded him in death in 1970. He married his wife Carol Klinkhammer on March 11, 1972, in Racine, Wisconsin. Ed served in the U.S. Marines from 1960 until 1970. He saw combat in Chu-Lai and Da-Nang Vietnam and participated in fleet operations in Cuba during the Cuban missile crisis. His last rank was staff sergeant. He along with his wife Carol resided in Pembine for the past 6 years. They owned and operated Lily Campground in Dunbar for ten years. Ed worked at M.J. Electric from 1979 until 2000 as a shift foreman for field operations, where he retired. Ed was an avid hunter, fisherman, the outdoors, but most of all enjoyed visiting with his family and many friends. Ed was a member of the V.F.W. of Amberg, Wisconsin and the American Legion Post #0461 of Pembine, Wisconsin. Ed is survived by, his wife Carol; two sons, Paul Bilky of Pembine, Wisc., and Sherril E. (Chris) Bilky Jr. of Yuma, Ariz.; three daughters Janice (Jeff) Wierschke of Sheboygan Falls, Wisc., Donna (Tim) Wilson of Cedar, Mich., Karen (Nigel Crowe) Bilky of Palmetto, FL.; two brothers David Bilky of Milwaukee, Wisc., and Fred (Barb) Bilky of Stoughton,Wisc.; three sisters, Sue Bedard and Lee Bilky both of New Lisbon, Wisc.; Carrie (Bob) Kordus of Dunbar, Wisc.; eight grandchildren, Eddie III, Daniel, Colton, Andrew, Katie, Emma, Amanda and Elaine; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Besides his parents and his first wife Joyce, Ed was preceded in death by his step father Edgar Allen Goodchild, and a brother Paul Bilky. Visitation will be Thursday April 6, 2006, from 3-5p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Homes, Niagara Chapel. The American Legion of Pembine along with the V.F.W. of Amberg will conduct a Veteran's Memorial Service Thursday 4:45p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be Thursday 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Pat Nolet will officiate. Burial will be in the Dunbar Cemetery in Dunbar, Wisconsin. A memorial will be established in his memory.
