Sagola: Sarah T. Martin age 94, of Sagola, Michigan passed away Saturday, March 25, 2006 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls.
Sarah was born on January 7, 1912 in Sagola, Mich. daughter of the late Charles and Zella (Fruik) Lee. She married James H. Martin, he preceded her in death on April 26, 1964. They resided in Sagola all of their married life. She was an active member of Grace Presbyterian Church, the Ladies Aide, the Royal Neighbors of America and the Home Extension. Sarah worked many years as a clerk for McCole's General Store in Sagola and later for the Channing school along with her father as custodian. Sarah babysat for many little children in the Sagola area.
She enjoyed many hobbies; knitting, crocheting, bingo, cooking, baking, her famous potato salad, cream puffs and baked beans were enjoyed by many. Sarah especially enjoyed visiting and spending time with her friends.
Sarah is survived by one daughter, Maxine Beneke of Kingsford, Mich., seven grandchildren, many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She had special friends, Verna Dishaw and Helen Richardson, Jerry McIntyre and Ed Skibo all of Iron County Medical Care Facility. Sarah always felt loved and at home with the staff and her friends at Medicare.
Besides her parents and husband James, Sarah was preceded by one son, James C. Martin, one brother, Charles Frank Lee, one daughter, Lucille Lee and one nephew, Royce Lee.
Her wishes were to have no visitation. A graveside service will be announced in the spring. Burial will be in Channing Cemetery.
