Sandra Kay Takala, 58, of Crystal Falls, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2013, at her home.
She was born July 4, 1954, in Ft. Bragg, N.C., daughter of Richard and Esther (Jennings) Veltus. Sandra married Douglas Takala on June 23, 1984, in Amasa, Mich.
Sandra was a former bartender at the Amasa Hotel and was employed at Bigari Ace Hardware. She had many friends in the area and will be missed dearly.
She is survived by her husband, Doug Takala, Crystal Falls; her parents, Richard and Esther Veltus, Kaukauna, Wis.; one son, Benjamin Takala, Marquette; one daughter, Sara Takala Crow, Iron Mountain; five brothers, Bob (Carol) Veltus, Mike (Marsha) Veltus, Steve (Anna) Veltus, Gary (Amy) Veltus, Don (Kim) Veltus; two sisters, Nancy (Dale) Cunningham, Judy Veltus, both of Racine; one grandchild, Malachi Crow, several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Sandra was preceded in death by one brother, Rick Veltus.
A memorial service will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013, at Bethany Lutheran Church, Amasa. Rev. Bonny Kinnunen will officiate. A meal will be served in the lower level of the church following the memorial service. After this, a time for the sharing of memories and refreshments will be held at the Hiltonen camp in Amasa. Burial will be in the Hematite Cemetery, Amasa.
