Iron Mountain: Samuel Abraham, age 52, of 304 West D Street in Iron Mountain, died Saturday June 21, 2003 at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
Sammy was born on April 19, 1951, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Samuel and Ann (Schultz) Abraham. Sammy was a lifelong resident of Iron Mountain and graduated from Iron Mountain High School.
He married Anita Elliott on June 25, 1983 in Iron Mountain. Sammy and Anita would have celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, June 25th. Sammy owned and operated the Downtown Car Wash in Iron Mountain for many years. Sam, along with his wife Anita, own Superior Bagels and Subs in Iron Mountain. Most recently, Sammy obtained his real estate license and worked as a real estate agent with State Wide First Reality of Iron Mountain.
Sammy was a founding member of the West Randville Sportsmen's Association and was a member of the Elks and Oak Crest Golf Course. Sammy was instrumental in the revitalization of the SkiTers water ski club and had been serving as an adult mentor for the organization.
Sam enjoyed many hobbies including; hunting, water skiing, snow skiing, golfing, and most recently became an avid fisherman. Sammy was an outstanding craftsman who mastered any trade or task he attempted. He always went the extra mile to help other people and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Anita; two daughters, Julie Ann Abraham of San Diego, CA, and Samantha Abraham who lives at home in Iron Mountain; one brother, Mickey Abraham, of Arizona; one sister, Corrine (Leonard) LaPointe of Tallahasse, Florida; father-in-law and mother-in-law Gerald (JoAnne) Elliott of Kingsford; one brother-in-law, Michael Elliott, of Iron Mountain, and two sisters-in-law, Julie (Peter) Piatti of Iron Mountain, and Donna (Todd) Tousignant of Iron Mountain. Sammy also leaves a special niece Krystal Elliott of Georgia and, his best buddy, Bob (Nancy) Bouche of Kingsford. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and his dogs Auggie, Brutus, and Jack.
Sammy was preceded by his parents, his mother-in-law Barbara Elliott and good friend Greg Mashak.
Visitation will be Wednesday June 25, 2003, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home. Trisagion prayers will be recited Wednesday 7:30 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Thursday 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Orthodox Church in Iron Mountain. Fr. Mark Hagan will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
Pallbearers will be Steve Inglese, Ben Baker, Mike LeQuia, Dave Celello, Mike Celello, and Rick Zolner.
