Sadie E. (Fetterly) Moddie, 73, of Norway, Michigan, formerly of Iron Mountain, passed away Saturday, February 5, 2011, at her home. Sadie was born on April 17, 1937, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Leo and Pearl (Sexton) Smith. She grew up in Randville and attended school in Sagola. Sadie married Merrill Fetterly. He preceded her in death in 1989. She later married James Moddie. He preceded her in death in 2001. While married, Sadie worked for Hirsch's Supper Club and was also a coordinator for the casino buses. She spent many years volunteering for the Salvation Army and was a Charter Member of the Community Action Agency. Sadie enjoyed crochetting, arts and crafts, puzzles, Yahtzee and especially spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by two sons, Brian (Cindy Dorvinen) Fetterly, Houghton, Mich., Wade (Melissa Opsahl) Fetterly, Kingsford, Mich.; two brothers, Mark Smith, Seattle, Wash., Carl (Colleen) Smith, Central Wis.; two sisters, Judy Smith, South Carolina, Candice (John) Roberts, Iron Mountain, Mich.; ten grandchildren, Bryan Fetterly, Brad Fetterly, Amber Fetterly, Grace Haas, Madison Fetterly, Stephanie Dorvinen, Esaias Dorvinen, Caleb Dorvinen, Taylor Verrette, Hunter Kullar; three brothers-in-law, Myron Fetterly, Kingsford, Marvin Fetterly, Kingsford, Mich., and John (Betty) Moddie, Quinnesec, Mich.; numerous nieces and nephews. Sadie was preceded in death by four brothers, Dee Smith, Dale Smith, Jerry Smith, Gordon Smith; and one sister, Nadine Peterson. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 9, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. James Danielson will officiate. Burial will be in Dickinson County Memorial Gardens.
