Ruth M. Skoglund, 74, of Norway, Mich., passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at her home. She was born January 3, 1940, in Chicago, Ill., daughter of the late George and Mary (Fournier) Smith. Ruth grew up in Peoria, Ill. and the Chicago area. She graduated from high school in Peoria and went on to attend college where she received her degree in nursing. Ruth worked as a nurse in Texas during her younger years. She married James Skoglund on November 15, 1981, in Norway. While living in Norway she worked at Norway Gravure as a label inspector until her retirement in 1985. Ruth enjoyed crocheting and made many afghans. She is survived by her husband James; one sister, Virginia Dobbs, Maryhill Manor, Niagara, Wis.; three grandchildren, Dave Mason, Norway, and Justin Mason and Travis Mason, both of Calif.; one great-granddaughter, Rosland and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sons, David Mason and Christopher Mason; one daughter, Michelle Pohlson and one grandson, Mark Mason. In accordance with Ruth's wishes, private visitation and services were held.
