Crystal Falls- Ruth Ellen (Solberg) Larson, 92, of Crystal Falls, Mich., passed away Sunday, November 7, 2021, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls, Mich. Ruth Ellen was born on New Year's Day in 1929, in Escanaba, Mich., daughter of the late Renald and Ruth (Anderson) Solberg. Ruth grew up in Felch, Mich., and was a graduate of Felch High School, class of 1946. After graduation, she attended the Milwaukee Business Institute in Milwaukee, Wis. She worked as a secretary at the VA in both Milwaukee and Iron Mountain. Ruth Ellen married Hartley Larson in 1953 and they raised their six children, living in Norway, Felch, Crystal Falls, Escanaba, and then 40 years in Marquette. She worked at the U.S. Forest Service in Marquette. Ruth and Hartley then retired to their home on Lake Mary in Crystal Falls, where they enjoyed both quiet times together and fun family gatherings. Ruth Ellen was a generous volunteer in many community groups and schools, and was very active at Messiah Lutheran Church. She found joy in hosting parties and particularly loved playing Bridge with special friends. She was an avid reader and was never one to shy away from a discussion on current events. She enjoyed cheering for her children and supporting them in all their interests. Ruth Ellen was a loving mother and master of organizing a busy family. To know her was to love her! She is survived by her 6 children, Linda, Steve, Barbara, Mark, Jon, Tom (Carolyn), 13 grandchildren, 6 great- grandchildren, and her loving brother, Roger Solberg. Ruth Ellen is proceeded in death by her husband of 67 years, Hartley. In accordance with Ruth Ellen and Hartley's wishes, there will be celebrations of life at their Lake Mary home next summer. Burials will be in the Felch Cemetery.
