Florence:
Ruth H. Asplund, age 91 of Florence, Wisconsin passed away on Monday August 22, 2005 in Florence, Wisconsin.
Ruth was born on November 15, 1913 in Florence, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Warner and Anne (Johnson) Ostrom. Ruth was a lifelong resident of Florence. She attended the most recent Florence High School and graduated in its first graduating class in 1931. Ruth married Hilding Asplund on August 6, 1932 in Florence at her parent's home. He preceded her in death on October 3, 1981. Ruth worked for 20 years as a deputy for the Florence County Register of Deeds office. She was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Florence Historical Society and was a staunch supporter of the Republican Party. Ruth enjoyed many hobbies including; sewing, quilting, needle work, and playing the piano.
Ruth is survived by three daughters Hildene (William) Edwards of Springfield, OH, Marlene (Ronald) Bentley of Clarkston, MI and Eileen (Thomas) Pugh of Spread Eagle, WI. Nine grandchildren, Greg, Lisa, Bruce, Suzanne, Scott, Ann Marie, Tom, Steven and Kathleen and Fourteen great grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband Hilding, Ruth was preceded by one daughter, Kathleen Larson in 1990, her son in law, Bob Larson, one brother Russell Ostrom, four sisters, Fern Forseth, Margaret Wright, Hazel Leister, Betty Bartlett and one grandson Mark Bentley.
Visitation will be Saturday August 27, from 9:30 to 11:00a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Florence. Funeral services will be Saturday 11:00am at the church. Pastor Doug Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Florence, Wisconsin.
Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
