Russell A. Lien, 91, of Antigo, Wis., formerly of Crystal Falls, passed away Thursday, December 9, 2010, at Eastview Manor Nursing Home, Antigo. He was born on April 23, 1919, in Galloway, Wis., son of the late Jurgen and Selma (Klope) Lien. Russell married Helen Zavada; she preceded him in death in 1999. He then married Adela Utnehmer on December 23, 2000. They resided in Antigo, Wis. Russell served in the United States Army Corps of Engineers as a Master Sergeant during WWII. He served in the 86th division in both the Pacific and European Theatre of Operations. Russell was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2891 of Crystal Falls, Sagola Township Sportsman's Club, National Rifle Association (NRA), he was a CCC Alumni, Crystal Falls/Iron River Free and Accepted Masons Lodge No. 385, Scottish Rite member of the Ahmed Temple Shrine, and member of the Interstate Shrine Club. He is survived by his wife, Adela Lien; two step-daughters, Judy (Ronald) Ackerman, Kaye (Myron) Mackiewicz, all of Antigo; one sister, Doris M. Dunn, Iola, Wis.; four step-grandchildren, six step great-grandchildren, and one great-great step grandchild. Visitation will be Monday, December 13, 2010, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls. A Masonic memorial service will be held Monday 12:15 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will follow Monday 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Stephen Rhoades will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
