Russell J. Conklin, 99, of Beecher, Wis., passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at his home. He was born on November 26, 1911, in Milwaukee, Wis., son of the late Earl and Gertrude (Zimmerman) Conklin. Russell grew up in Dunbar, Wis. He married Lillian Pups in 1938. She preceded him in death in 1987. Russell worked in the CCC camps in the local area. In 1937, he moved to Milwaukee and worked for Harnischfeger Corporation. Russell and Lillian moved to Pembine for a short period of time before moving back to Milwaukee where Russell worked for Allis-Chalmers Company for 28 years, retiring in 1972 at which time he moved to Beecher. He was a past member of the Dunbar Lions Club. Russell enjoyed gardening, welding, and collecting all kinds of items. Russell is survived by one son, Earl Conklin, Milwaukee; one daughter, Barbara Conklin, Milwaukee; three sisters, Jeanette Kelley, Reedsburg, Wis., Blanche Hall, Florida, Doris Foley, Menomonee Falls, Wis.; three grandchildren, Scott Conklin, Sherri (Steve) Weber, Tina (Richard) Steeno; three great-grandchildren, Shanae, Jason, and Brandon; and special friends, Graciela Lozano and Bud Grenier. In addition to his wife and parents, Russell was preceded in death by four brothers, Clifford, Roger, Robert, and Vernon Conklin.
