Russell G. Colantonio, 68, of Iron Mountain, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2008, in Iron Mountain.
He was born August 25, 1939, in Iron Mountain, son of Louis and the late Bernice (Olson) Colantonio. Russell was raised in Iron Mountain and graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1957.
Russell had over 39 years of federal service in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1960, and a postal career from 1967 to 2003. He enjoyed warm days at Lake Antoine, walking his dogs along the hills on the Eastside of town, and taking sunset rides on his Harley motorcycle.
He took great pride in his family, loved his sisters and parents, helped neighbors with lawn care needs and ideas, and socialized at area establishments and with online friends. Born and raised in Iron Mountain, he took pride in this community and made this his home.
Russell is survived by his father, Louis, Kirkland, Washington; his son, Scott (Linda), Oshkosh, Wis.; his daughter, Kristie (Faron), Phoenix, Ariz.; his sisters, Jan (Gary) Pilon, Orlando, FL and Cheryl (Ben) Storey, Kirkland; grandchildren, Anthony, Danny, Julia, Nathan, and Sami.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon in 1948, and by his mother, Bernice in 2005.
A graveside service will be held in the spring to celebrate his life.
