Rudolph Piatti, 77, of Iron Mountain, passed away Monday, May 18, 2009, at the Oscar G. Johnson Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Iron Mountain.
He was born October 24, 1931, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Joseph and Erminia (Romagnoli) Piatti. Rudy married the former Susan Duff on January 24, 1970.
Rudy attended Iron Mountain High School and graduated in 1949. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corpe where he served as a Sergeant from 1951 to June of 1953. Rudy served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1952. He owned and operated Rudy's Body Shop for over 25 years retiring in October 1987.
He enjoyed many hobbies in his spare time. Rudy loved working in his garden and his pond. He also enjoyed going to camp with family and friends, and the companionship of his dogs. Rudy will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Rudy was a member of the American Legion Uren-Cooper Post No. 50 for many years in Iron Mountain, and was also a life member of the VFW Post No. 3674.
Rudy is survived by his wife, Susan; one daughter, Cindy (Dave) Duecker, Twin Lakes, Wis.; one sister, Lorraine Ziadel, Niagara, Wis.; four brothers, Gerald (Arla), Breitung Township, Edward (Margaret), Kingsford, Raymond, Canada and Mexico, Terry (Dee), Buchanan, Mich.; one granddaughter, Amanda, Iron Mountain; one grandson, PFC, Jason Duecker, US Marine Corpe, Twin Lakes, Wis.; one great-grandson, Noah, Wis.; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by one son, Rudy John, 2007; one grandson, Stefan Duecker; two step-sons, Tom and Tim Groleau.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 20, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. at Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain. Fr. Mark Hagan will officiate. Following the graveside service, a luncheon will be held for family and friends at 617 East A Street, Iron Mountain.
