Roy Watson Hurley, 84, of Crystal Falls, passed away, Wednesday, September 15, 2010, at Northstar Health System, Iron River. He was born on July 4, 1926, in Cleveland, Ohio, son of the late Roy and Ethel May (Lynch) Hurley. In 1955, Roy married the former Helen Mae Grandahl in Crystal Falls; she survives. Roy was a self-employed electrical contractor and provided employment to many local families. He was a member of Tufts-Rondon Post No. 2891 VFW, Crystal Falls. One of Roy's favorite pastimes was playing tennis. He is survived by his wife, Helen Mae Hurley; one step-son, Leo J. Schiavo; one step-daughter, Carol J. Pirttilampi, all of Crystal Falls; seven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild. Roy was preceded in death by two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls. East Side Veterans Council will perform Military Rites.
