Roy T. Carlson, age 94, of Fence, died, November 7, 2007. Roy was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 19, 1912 the son of the late August and Alma (Anderson) Carlson.
Roy felt blessed to visit Fence (God's Country) while a young lad and there met his future wife, Mary K. Thomas (daughter of Griffith and Mary (Gleason) Thomas. They were married in Elgin, Illinois on May 1, 1937. They resided in Chicago and Milwaukee for several years until they purchased the Ole Bergstrom home in Fence in 1945. He and Mary were snow birds (Florida) for many years but eagerly returned to Fence in Spring. Roy loved playing cards; the great outdoors, fishing, hunting and was forever busy in his garden and with other projects. He most recently resided at the Hoffman Paradise Nursing facility, Armstrong Creek, Wisconsin.
Roy was a machinist and government inspector for Lake Shore Engineering until retiring in 1972.
Roy is survived by his wife, Mary; three daughters, Evelyn Geraldine Doyal of Crowley, Texas; Nancy Lee Nelson (Lynn), LaCrosse, Wis., Cynthia C. Yilmaz (Mike), Leesburg, Florida; nine grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Roy was preceded in death by, two sons, Ronald T. and Robert Wayne (Lettie Brooks); one brother, Elmer, and many cherished extended family members.
Roy will be cremated and no services held at this time. Family plans to have internment and memorial service at later date.
