Rosemary (Sculati) Larsen, 76, of Spread Eagle, Wis., passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer on Thursday, January 19, 2012, at her daughter's home in Illinois.
She was born September 8, 1935, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Mario and Tressa (Crispigna) Sculati. Rosemary graduated from Iron Mountain High School, Class of 1953. After high school, Rosemary went on to obtain her Bachelor and Master degree from Michigan State University. She married Donald "Blondy" Larsen on August 17, 1962. He survives.
Rosemary worked in the Waukegan High School as a Guidance Counselor for over 30 years. After retiring, she and Blondy moved back up north to live on the Spread Eagle Chain of Lakes in Wisconsin, near Iron Mountain, where they both grew up.
She loved spending time with her family, friends, and grandchildren. Rosemary was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing on the Ladies 9 Hole Golf League at Pine Grove Country Club and playing couples Scotch Golf with Blondy and friends. She loved water aerobics and swore by them. Rosemary had a great love for Pensacola Beach, Fla., where she and Blondy enjoyed their winter months.
Rosemary was a member of the Friends of the Museum and the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She was an avid sports fan and loved Michigan State, Green Bay Packers, and the Chicago White Sox. Rosemary will be greatly missed by many.
She is survived by her husband, Blondy; one son, Kurt (Darla) Larsen; one daughter, Kristen (Al) Vedder; three grandchildren, Jack Donald Vedder, Jeffrey Allen Vedder, Tressa Grace Larsen; and one brother Marvin (Sally) Sculati, St. Simons, Ga., and Spread Eagle.
Along with her parents, Rosemary was preceded in death by one grandson, Tyler Dean Larsen.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 26, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. Prayers will be offered 9:30 a.m., Friday, January 27, at the funeral home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Iron Mountain. Rev. Fr. Dean Marek and Rev. Fr. Raymond Valerio will concelebrate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain.
