Rosemary Hammerberg, 92, of Crystal Falls, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2011, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born August 23, 1919, in Kalamazoo City, daughter of the late Clare and Leah (Ford) Williamson. On October 20, 1943, she married Rollin Hammerberg. He preceded her in death on June 28, 1985.
Rosemary graduated from Kellogg High School, Class of 1937, in Augusta and attended the Ferris Institute graduating in 1942. She worked for Upjohn Company and in 1946 came to Crystal Falls. She was a homemaker and along with her husband operated the Hammerberg Drug Store in Crystal Falls, becoming a pharmacist. Rosemary was also a pharmacist at the former Crystal Falls Community Hospital for many years. She was an active member of United Lutheran Church, the Peacemakers Quilting Group, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and was an avid supporter the Fortune Lake Bible Camp.
Survivors include her son, Richard (Linda) Hammerberg, Crystal Falls; one granddaughter, Gretchen Hammerberg-Clifford, Fla., four great-granddaughters, Brittany, Macey, Erin, Kayla; and a sister, Vida Hiscock, Lakeland, Fla. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one brother, Basil Williamson.
Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 8, 2011, at United Lutheran Church, Crystal Falls. The Memorial Service will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the church. Rev. Michael Laakko will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls. The OES will conduct a memorial service at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the church.
