Crystal Falls – Roland Gordon Kennedy, 81, of Crystal Falls, Mich., passed away on December 12, 2024, at Optalis Health and Rehabilitation, Kingsford, Mich.
He was born on July 9, 1943, in Crystal Falls, Mich., to the late Holgar and Loretta (LaPlante) Fagerstrom.
He was raised in Crystal Falls and graduated from Crystal Falls High School, class of 1961. After high school, he attended Northern Michigan University and earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree.
He enlisted in the United States Army and served in Vietnam. After his honorable discharge, he returned to North Michigan University and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree.
He married Diana Oberto on September 17, 1977, and the couple welcomed their son, Peter, on August 1, 1988.
Roland was employed for many years by John Crane, Inc., at their Crystal Falls plant as a second shift foreman. Upon the closure of the Crystal Falls plant, he was employed by Angelis Central Market in Iron River as a maintenance worker until his retirement.
In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time in nature, watching classic movies, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Charles Kennedy.
He is survived by his loving wife of forty-seven years, Diana Kennedy; and his son, Peter Kennedy.
In accordance with Roland's wishes, no formal services will be held.
