Roger H. Sufka, 57, of Iron Mountain, Mich., passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at Aurora BayCare Medical Center, Green Bay, Wis., due to a stroke.
He was born June 24, 1952, in St. Cloud, Minn., son of Leo and Mary Ellen (Studer) Sufka. Roger graduated from Sauk Rapids High School, Class of 1970. He married Karen Stellmach on September 18, 1976, at Annunciation Mayhew Lake Church, Sauk Rapids, Minn.
Roger worked on his father's family farm until 1971, when he began working for St. Regis Paper, Sartell, Minn. He moved to Iron Mountain in 1990, where he worked for Champion Paper, International Paper, and Verso Paper. Roger enjoyed working on his father's farm, working outside on his lawn with his John Deere tractor, sitting on the front porch, and especially spending time with family and many friends.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Sufka; two sons, Paul (Katherine) Sufka, Minneapolis, Minn., Adam Sufka and his daughter, Kendal Sufka, both of Clinton Twsp., Mich.; his mother, Mary Ellen Sufka, Sauk Rapids; three brothers, Leo (Nancy) Sufka, Jr., Robert (Gwen) Sufka, Daniel (Kathy Wilson) Sufka; two sisters, Dorothy Anderson, Margaret (John) Snyder; many nieces and nephews.
Roger was preceded in death by his father, Leo Sufka; one brother-in-law, Leonard Anderson; and a niece, Katja Sufka.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 25, 2010, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. Prayers will be offered 7:30 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will officiate.
Additional visitation will be held Friday, March 26, 2010, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Sauk Rapids, Minn. Prayers will be offered 6:45 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home. Visitation will also be held Saturday, March 27, 2010, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Rice, Minn. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Saturday, at the church. Rev. Timothy Wenzel will officiate. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery, Rice.
A memorial will be established in Roger's memory.
