Obituary

Roger R. Seelund, 77, of Felch, passed away peacefully Monday, June 24, 2013, at his home. He was born August 16, 1935, in Iron Mountain, son of the late John and Ellen (Carlson) Seelund. Roger grew up in Foster City and Felch and graduated from Felch High School. He served in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sgt. stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. After he was honorably discharged in 1963, he moved back to Felch. Roger married Jossie Sanoval on November 7, 1959. He later married Nancy Pierson and she preceded him in death on September 22, 1993. Roger moved to Waukegan, Ill., and later transferred to Kincaid Station, Kincaid Ill., where he worked for Commonwealth Edison Power Plant for 35 years. After retiring in 1991, he moved back to Felch. Roger enjoyed many hobbies; including hunting, fishing, and he loved socializing at all the local establishments. Solberg's and L.C.'s being his favorite. He is survived by Jossie, mother of Brian and Jon; two sons, Brian Seelund, Chicago, Jon Seelund, Homer, Ill.; two brothers, Richard Seelund, Felch, Bob (Karen) Seelund, Felch; many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Saturday, June 29, 2013, 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Metropolitan, Mich. Funeral services will be Saturday 11:00 a.m., at the church. Rev. Joel Smeby will officiate. Burial will be in Felch Cemetery. Felch-Breen VFW Post No. 4803 will accord military honors at graveside.
