Rodora E. Semler, 79, of Iron Mountain, Mich. passed away Friday, April 27, 2012, at Marquette General Hospital in Marquette, Mich.
She was born on September 30, 1932, in Aitkin, Minn., daughter of the late Roger and Esther (Ladd) Baker. Rodora married Ellsworth Semler on January 26, 1949, in Aitkin. They resided in Crosby, Minn., until 1963, at which time they moved to Iron Mountain. Rodora was a very active member of the Maranatha Assembly of God Church in Kingsford. She was a volunteer with the Maranatha Messengers and taught Sunday School and Junior Church for many years.
Rodora enjoyed sewing, gardening, and crossword puzzles. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and she will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Ellsworth, three sons, John (Janet) Semler, Wellston, Mich., Robert Semler, Kingsford, Daniel (Linda) Semler, Superior, Colo.; one daughter, Debra (Larry) Strauss, Vulcan, Mich.; seven grandchildren, Jim (Christina), Jamie (Chris), Teena (John), Tawnya (Kenny), Deanna (Ryan), Melissa, Brent (Tara); fourteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Rodora was preceded by one sister Mary Seibert.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 1, 2012, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Maranatha Assembly of God Church in Kingsford. Funeral services will be Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. at the church. Rev. David Wilton will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain.
