Obituary

Rodney A. Raboin, 95, of Florence, Wis., passed away September 14, 2010, at the Golden Living Center in Florence. He was born on July 2, 1915, in Talbot, Mich., son of the late Maxime and Marie (Uebreck) Raboin. Rodney's family moved to Niagara, Wis., where he grew up and graduated from Niagara High School. He was employed by Kimberly Clark Corporation where he worked for 44 years. Rodney married Maxine Dufresne on May 21, 1938. After 35 years of marriage, she preceded him in death. Their children are Gail DuFrane, Linda (Cleon) Allard, Michael (Pam) Raboin, Cathy (Mark) Staeven, Ken (Mary) Raboin, and Cari (Jerry Runion) Raboin. Their children are forever grateful for the legacy of caring family, love and laughter they have passed on to us. Rodney married Genevieve Jenkins Nabbefeld on March 30, 1975. After retiring as a Supervisor from the Niagara Paper Mill in 1977, he and Genevieve spent their winters in Englewood, Fla., and their summers at the family place on Lake Emily in Florence County. They enjoyed traveling, square dancing, round dancing, golfing, their daily walks, visiting casinos, and getting together with friends and family. Throughout his life, Rodney also enjoyed bowling, fishing, woodworking, and was one of the first TV repairmen in Niagara. He was an avid Packer Fan as well as a die-hard, card-carrying fan of the Chicago Cubs. His sense of fun delighted everyone who knew him. In addition to his children, Rodney is survived by his wife, Genevieve, two stepsons, Richard (Pam) Nabbefeld of Lake, Mich.; Keith (Molly) Nabbefeld of DeWitt, Mich.; and two sisters, Joyce (Dan) Byron of San Antonio, Tex.; Connie Blivin of St Joseph, Mich.; and a sister-in-law, Coral Raboin of Norway, Mich. He will also be greatly missed by his grandchildren Laura, David, Diann, Daniel, Rob, Brian, Michelle, Kevin, Lea, Nick, Max and Will as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and special nephew and devoted friend, Rick Raboin. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles, Clifford, John (Don), and Alan Raboin; one sister, Wilna DeClark; one stepson, Louis Nabbefeld; one grandchild, Mark Allard; and one great-grandchild, Jacob Spradlin. The family would like to thank the staff and residents of the Golden Living Center in Florence for their care and kindness. Visitation will be Friday, September 24, 2010, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs-Lundholm Funeral Home, Florence. The memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Rev. James Backus will officiate. Burial will be in Niagara Cemetery, Niagara. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
