Robert C. Sandona, Jr., 70, of Spread Eagle, Wis., passed away Saturday, June 1, 2013, at his home.
He was born on March 12, 1943, in Chicago, Ill, son of Robert Charles, Sr. and Emily (Wasserman) Sandona.
Robert grew up on the south side of Chicago. While living in Chicago he worked as a bricklayer. He moved to Crystal Falls in the mid 1980s where he built the Crystal Falls Car Wash and Laundromat. A short time later, he went on to build Auto Bath, a car wash and Laundromat in Iron Mountain, Mich. Robert owned and operated Auto Bath from 1992 until he retired in 2004. In his early years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching sporting events. He will be missed by his many friends and his loving family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by, his mother, Emily Sandona, Kingsford, Mich.; one son, Robert C. (Tammy Mattson) Sandona, III, Felch, Mich.; one daughter, Cheryl (Dan) Blank, Crystal Falls; one brother, Eugene (Julie) Sandona, Kingsford; ten grandchildren, Michelle, Jessica, Kara, Jennifer, Jackie, Jillian, Jordan, Kristina, Karolyn and Kathryn; five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, Robert C. Sandona, Sr.; one daughter, Jane Bulthuis; one sister, Patricia Eick.
Private family services will be held.The family will hold a reception to greet friends and family on Thursday, June 6, 2013, at 2:00 p.m., at the Chuckwagon in Spread Eagle.
