Robert "Bob" A. Rahm of Spread Eagle, Wis., passed away June 11, 2022, at his home.
Bob was born in 1935, in Grosse Pointe, Mich., to Dr. Lambert and Vera Rahm. After graduating Fountain Valley School of Colorado, class of 1954, he had a chance to advance his talents in pitching baseball, but love got in the way. In 1959, he met and married his wife of 60 years, Nancy Shonyo. Because of his strong Swedish roots in Iron Mountain and Spread Eagle, he and Nancy moved their family to the area in 1972.
Whether he was traveling across country on a train, eating his favorite breakfast at Barb's, or a scoop at the Ice Cream Shoppe, he loved to connect with people.
Two of his greatest passions in life were his grandchildren and Griggs Steel Co. Sometimes combining the two, he would drive across the country, meet with customers and squeeze in visiting national parks and historic hotels along the way with Nancy and the grandkids.
His phone was continually abuzz with calls from his children and grandchildren. Bob was the family news reporter - catching up with everyone's day and disseminating the information throughout the family. He loved hearing what everyone was up to, and his family loved the way he answered the phone with a familiar, "Hello there."
Bob is survived by friend, companion, and love, Barbara "Kay" Smith; his sons, Lars Rahm, Nils (Jennifer) Rahm, Robert S. Rahm; his daughters, Kristin (Sanjiv) Rimal, Trina (Andrew) Murdoch; his grandchildren, Sage Rahm, Asa Rahm Rimal, Ana Stina (Rocky) Espinosa, Margaret Gottlieb, Per (Jessica) Rahm, Linnea Rimal, Cyrus Gottlieb, Seth (AnJenae) Rimal, Ava Rahm, Gray Rahm, Tilly Rahm, Elaine Rahm, and Robert "Buck" Rahm; great-grandchildren, Rishi Espinosa, Aria Rimal, Sukhi Espinosa, Kavya and Alana Rimal; loving nieces and nephew; and close friends, Joanne and Pat Wloszczynski.
Bob is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy; brother Phillip Rahm; and sister, Karin Vincent.
With the ending of every phone call, Bob would say, "Keep in touch now. I like to hear from you,". With that sentiment, we would like to offer to the community, which meant so much to him, let's keep in touch and remember the legacy of Bob. We like to hear from you.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 29, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Chippewa Club, Iron Mountain, Mich., in the outdoor tent. A service of remembrance will follow at 4:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Florence Rescue Squad, PO Box 278, Florence, WI, 54121 in Bob's memory.
