Robert H. Peterson, 88, of Niagara, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2011, at Dickinson County Healthcare System, Iron Mountain. He was born February 12, 1923, in Crystal Falls, Mich., son of the late Hadar and Agnes (Ronback) Peterson. Robert grew up and attended school in Crystal Falls. After school, he worked in Crystal Falls and later found work in Chicago for a short period of time then eventually moved back home to Crystal Falls. Robert met Patricia Harvath and they were married on September 14, 1957, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Niagara. Robert and Patricia resided in Niagara. She preceded him in death in 1983. He retired in 1982, after working 42 years at the Niagara Paper Mill. Robert was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spent all of his free time at Long Lake in Crystal Falls. Robert is survived by two sons, Dan (Trisha) Peterson, Niagara, David (Faith) Peterson, Aurora; one daughter, Karen (Mike) Lowis, Homestead; two brothers, Don (Bev) Peterson, Crystal Falls, Harry Peterson, Ironwood, Mich.; one sister, Lorry (Robert) Morstad, Niagara; five grandchildren, Pam, Rob, Dan (Nikki), Travis, Shawn (Leah); ten great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Robert was preceded in death by one sister, Elaine O'Million; and one sister-in-law, Mary Jane Peterson. The visitation will be Friday, December 2, 2011, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home, Niagara Chapel. The funeral service will be held 12:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home. Rev. Fr. Matt Settle will officiate. Burial will be in the Niagara Cemetery.
