Robert 'Butch' Marcouiller, 85, Kingsford, former long-time resident of Niagara, Wisconsin, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2008, at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay, Wisconsin.
He was born January 16, 1923, in Niagara, son of the late Henry and Josephine (Bromberk) Marcouiller. Bob grew up in Niagara and graduated from Niagara High School in 1940. He married the former Grace Morstad in November of 1946.
After high school, Bob worked at Niagara Paper Mill until enlisting in the US Army. He was assigned to the first Airborne Brigade and later received pilot and officer training at the University of Florida-Gainsville. Bob served in WWII and after being discharged, he returned to Niagara where he worked at the Niagara Paper Mill for a short period of time.
Bob operated the family grocery store for nine years until his brother Jim returned from serving in the US Army. He then decided to purchase Fred Eckleharts Hardware Store in Niagara. He operated the Gamble Store, which later became Bob's Sporting and Hardware Store, for over 30 years.
He is survived by his wife, Grace; one son, Robert Marcouiller, Houston, Tex.; two daughters, Peggy (Dan) Barta, Rochester, N.Y., Mary Jo (Jim) Johnson, Oshkosh, Wis.; one sister, Jeanette Simonis, Beaver Dam, Wis.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Bob was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence and James; and one sister, Marian Kalina.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 21, 2008, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Niagara. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, May 21, 2008, 11:00 a.m. at the church. Fr. Michael Betley will officiate. Burial will be in Niagara Cemetery. American Legion Cretton-Tutas Post 136 of Niagara will accord military honors at the cemetery.
