Robert E. Hinterlong, 70, of Amasa, Mich., passed away Saturday, March 21, 2009, at his home.
Robert was born May 1, 1938, in Batavia, Ill., son of the late Joseph and Lillian (Millet) Hinterlong. He grew up in Batavia. Robert married Patsy Graves on February 21, 1959, in Aurora, Ill., and they resided in Batavia.
He was a heavy equipment operator in Batavia until 1990, at which time he and his wife Patsy moved to Amasa. While living in Amasa, Robert delivered meals-on-wheels. He enjoyed woodworking, animals, fishing, and especially spending time with his family and many friends.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Patsy; one son, Robert (Kohn) Hinterlong, Kentucky; four daughters, Janie Allen, Amasa; Benita Alexa, Iron River, Mich.; Roberta Armstrong, Caspian, Mich.; Misty (Bruce) Holm, Crystal Falls; two sisters, Evelyn Byrd, Oklahoma, Mary Jane Sipes, Batavia; nine grandchildren, Josh, Nakia, Ashley, Afton, Paige, Noel, Megan, Mary, Margaret; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Bernard, Joseph; three sisters, Charlotte Hinterlong, Grace Marriott, Ginner Hinterlong; and a son-in-law, David Allen.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 26, 2009, from 4:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., at Bethany Lutheran Church, Amasa. A Memorial Service will be Thursday, 4:30 p.m. at the church. Rev. Kevin Kaiser will officiate.
