Iron Mountain-Robert L. Gerich, age 79, of Channing, Mich., passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at ManorCare Nursing & Rehab., Kingsford, Mich.

He was born April 12, 1939, in Chicago, Ill., son of the late Sebastian and Eva (Armbrust) Gerich. Robert grew up and graduated school in Chicago, Ill. and served in the National Guard. On September 21, 1963 he was united in marriage to Margaret "Peggy" Logue. They moved to Channing full time in 2004. Robert had worked for the Chicago Police Department for many years and was a member of Clear Ridge SAC in Chicago and the Sagola Sportsman Club.

He enjoyed fishing, watching baseball and hockey, and especially the time spent with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Gerich; two sons, Tim (Kathy) Gerich and Bob (Jennifer) Gerich; two daughters, Joanne (Joe) Cardinale and Cathy Gerich; seven grandchildren, Jonathan (Shannon), Elizabeth, Neal, Sean (Marissa), Emma, Kevin and Quinn; and by one great-granddaughter, Caprice.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Gerich.

In accordance with Robert's wishes, family will be holding services in Chicago at a later date.
