Robert E. Morstad, age 81, of Niagara, Wisconsin, passed away Sunday, January 30, 2005, at Maryhill Manor in Niagara.
He was born August 19, 1923, in Carter, Wisconsin, the son of the late Theodore and Bertha (Collins) Morstad. He attended Wabeno High School and graduated in 1942. Robert served in World War II as a medic stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington and later on Tinian in the Pacific. Robert played football for the Medic's in Fort Louis and they were undefeated. On August 21, 1948, in Wabeno, Wisconsin, he married Anita Lang. He worked at Niagara Paper Mill on the calendar stacks for thirty-eight years, retiring in September of 1985. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Kingsford, and also a member of the American Legion of Niagara. He loved sports, baseball and was an avid bowler and golfer. He dearly loved his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Anita, two sons Paul (Nancy) Morstad, and Gary (Cheryl) Morstad of Stoughton, Wisconsin, one brother Bill (Helen) Morstad of Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin, four grandchildren; Marissa Morstad of Madison, Wisconsin, Brian (Heather) Morstad of Menomonie, Wisconsin, Amy Morstad of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, and Andrea Morstad of Stoughton, Wisconsin.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers; Teddy and Raymond.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 1, 2005, from 4:30-6:30p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Kingsford. American Legion services will be conducted at 6:15p.m. Funeral services will be at 6:30p.m. at the church with Rev. Michael March officiating. Burial will be in Niagara Cemetery.
