Florence:
Robert A. Cole, age 74, of Florence, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, July 20, 2004, at the V.A. Medical Center in Iron Mountain.
Bob was born March 27, 1930, in Texas, son of the late Ernest and Bessie Cole. He moved to Minnesota in his late 20's and resided in Florence, Wisconsin for the remainder of his life. He married Ida Thomas in 1975. He worked as a foreman for the Florence County Forestry and Parks Department for over 15years. Bob was a Sergeant First Class in the Army. He served in the Korean War, where he received a purple heart and was wounded twice in combat. He served for over six years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and singing country music. He had played music with his own band for many years.
Survivors include his wife Ida, one son Robert Cole Jr. of Minnesota, three daughters; Carin (Richard) Hyduke of Minnesota, Bobbie (Donald) Nelson of Iron Mountain and Nicole Cole of Florence, two brothers Jim (Mary Catherine) Cole and Ernest "Pete" Cole, One sister Virginia Cole (Carl), step-siblings; Ruby (Barry) Turnbull, and Richard Ramey, and an adopted son Glen (Colleen) Cole, six grandchildren; Vanessa, Grant, Tessa, Olivia, Jordan, and Brooke.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a step-brother David Ramey, and sister-in-law Ruby Cole.
Visitation will be Friday, July 23, 2004, from 10-11a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Florence. Funeral services will be at 11:00a.m. at the church. Pastor Doug Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Fence Cemetery.
