Robert R. Cayo, 71, Kingsford, passed away Friday, July 18, 2008, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Iron Mountain.
He was born September 13, 1936, in Niagara, Wis., son of the late Richard and Ellen (Taylor) Cayo.
Bob served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955, until his honorable discharge in 1958. He worked as a salesman for ABC Warehouse, Fretters and Gene Berger. Bob was an active member of the American Legion post in both Iron Mountain and Flint, and was a life member of 40-8 where he had over 1000 volunteer hours at the Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Iron Mountain and the AM Vets.
Robert is survived by two sons, John and Craig, Fox Valley; one daughter, Lori, California; one sister, LaVerne Maes, Hyland Nursing Home, Iron Mountain; one brother-in-law, Gene Berger, Iron Mountain; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; one nephew, Tony (Missy) Berger, Kingsford; two nieces, Lyn Stebbins, Lucinda Kasten, both of Kingsford; and a very special friend, Betty Romanowski, Kingsford.
Besides his parents, Robert was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Cayo, and one nephew, Terry Berger.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 23, 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM, at Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. The memorial service will be held Wednesday, 10:45 AM at the funeral home. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain. The American Legion, Uren-Cooper Post No. 50 of Iron Mountain will accord military services at the graveside.
